Privacy policy

LifeStone is a memorial app and website where families keep the memories of people and pets they have lost. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google. Optionally: profile photo, gender, date of birth, phone number.
- What you add: LifeStones (names, dates, life stories, resting places and photos of the people and pets you remember), memories (photos, videos and text), comments, likes, events and RSVPs, your family tree, and your SelfStone journey and wishes.
- Location, only when you choose: when you save a grave's location, the phone's GPS position at that moment. When you scan a headstone, the photo and the position it was taken at, if your phone provides it. We do not track your location in the background.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes, a technical report (device model, operating system version, what the app was doing) is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics. It does not include your name, email or content.
- Donations (website only): the amount, and the email address you give Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store them.
How we use it
- To run LifeStone: show your LifeStones and memories to the people you choose, connect family members, send notifications and emails you would expect (invites, approvals, password resets).
- To keep LifeStone safe: new LifeStones and memories are checked, partly by an automated AI system, for sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise harmful content before they are shown to others.
- To read headstones: headstone photos you scan are analysed, partly by an automated AI system, to read the names and dates and find a matching LifeStone.
- To fix problems, using crash reports.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
Who can see what
A private LifeStone is visible to you and the family members you connect with; a public one can be found by anyone. You choose this for each LifeStone, and whether other people's memories need your approval before they appear.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run LifeStone, and only what each one needs: our hosting and storage providers; the AI service that checks content and reads headstones; Google (sign-in and Firebase Crashlytics); Stripe (website donations); and our email provider. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, it is deleted straight away, as described on the account deletion page. Donation records are kept for accounting, with your name and email removed.
Your choices
- Edit or delete your LifeStones and memories at any time in the app.
- Delete your account in the app (menu, then Delete account) or on the account deletion page.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask any question about your privacy: email Waseem3228097993@gmail.com.
Security
Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, card payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to our systems is limited to the people who run LifeStone.
Children
LifeStone is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
